Tube damper pads only
I have always used Herbies tube dampers and I feel the jumbo tube dampers probably should have a fourth pad included. But I also set equipment and racks on your various pads and I dont have vibrations or microphonics that I can measure.
Adding one pad to each damper works well
I needed to replace one of the isolation pads on a damper and thought that While I'm ordering one I may as well fulfill an intention of mine, which was to see if adding an additional isolation pad to each tube damper (four total) would make any difference. At present I believe that it does. Sounds more solid, more present, but not over-damped. I placed the extras on my dampers on Friday and its now Monday and I still feel the same as when I first made the "improvement", that there's something better about the sound.
Rx, SS pads
Not much to add here to the many favourable reviews of Herbie’s tube dampers, but it is worth noting that you can buy the pads and rings separately. The SS and Rx pads do have somewhat different sonic signatures (the SS a bit softer and smoother, the Rx a bit more defined) and by having a few of them around you can “tune” the sound of your system. If you’re into tubes you’re probably a little OC anyway, and now you can take that to the next stage.
